Cycling along the Limes
Friday July 31st, 2009I cycled from Nijmegen to the Black Sea in 2005 along the Limes. The Limes is the old northern boundary of the Roman Empire and there is a beautiful bicycle ride along. I still wanted to cycle the part of the Limes that I didn’t do, from Nijmegen to the North Sea. Since we planned to go to Schoorl for a week, it seemed a good time to do so to me. I cycled from Nijmegen to Katwijk aan Zee. A beautiful route, just as the other part of the Limes. After a pizza on the boulevard of Katwijk I biked to Noordwijkerhout and pitched my tent. Here I called my nephew and niece who live in Noordwijkerhout and I drunk wine until late, I really enjoyed it. The next morning I left at eight, the boulders on the roads were annoying because of all the wine… Via IJmuiden and Zandvoort, and the beautiful Kennemerdunes I drove to Schoorl where I arives at one o´clock after a route of 230 kilometers. Great to cycle on my trusted recumbent again!
